A few words upon the trip
The route shown above is actually “version Nr. 9”, which means we have a slight tendency to change our mind three times a day, only the past few months we have decided on definite route. The first few versions started out going east and included destinations now long gone from our project, such as the Kamchatka Peninsula in Siberia, Mongolia, Nepal or Japan.
But we both consider this last version to be a good compromise between our ambitious travel plans on the one hand and organisational, logistic and especially time constraints on the other. Since we were not able to include many destinations in this trip, like Central & North Asia, Africa, we will have to do another “One Year Trip” or two, but this is maybe a little early to think about it!
With this said, let us be realistic: our golden rule for this Travel Around The World is: FLEXIBILITY! This means we will leave Vienna with our first and only ticket from Vienna to Caracas via Madrid, so we might change our mind “en route” and decide to simply cancel one country or add another one, stay longer at one place or much shorter at another.
This route is the base for our trip. It will be interesting to compare the project and the result afterwards, there might be a few slight differences.
