Of course we use travel guides, mostly the Lonely Planet and for African countries the excellent and actually much more detailed and reliable Bradt Guides.

Forums are another important source of information, often more accurate and closer to reality than any travel guide can be. The ThornTree Forum is probably the most active & reliable exchange of travel experiences.

Other great sources of inspiration - we hope that our website OneYearOff.net is among them - are other Travel Blogs & Travel Websites. Kien Lham: The 5 minute video / DiaShow is simply amazing, a great enticement to travel. It makes you feel like jumping on the next plane…

Jooi World: The section on budget is very detailed & precise, especially for those travelling on a tight budget. This is surely a good addition to what we wrote about our “money matters”, since we sometimes tend to splurge.

Living IF: The part on preparing a Round The World is one of the most comprehensive we have found so far. On the road since 2010... and still going! An amazing trip through Asia. Oceania & South America shall be next... At least that is the plan!

FreeSpirit: 34 months on the road … And still going! A really nice trip through Asia, the Pacific, South America & now Africa. Travelling overland in Africa - using public transport - is an experience that we have wanted to make for a while.
